WASHINGTON, DC & ATLANTA, GA., Feb.
17, 2003 --- David R. Mould, a leading communications
executive, has joined Griswold-Lesser as a principal in
the firm and will direct its new Strategic Corporate &
Public Sector Communications group, it was announced today
by Craig S. Lesser, a founding partner.
Previously, Mr. Mould provided counsel
to senior executives in creating and directing successful
corporate communication strategies, including for PG&E’s
National Energy Group, the Mirant Corporation and Southern
Company. He has substantial news media experience,
including a Middle East posting and other assignments for
United Press International.
Griswold-Lesser offers strategic
planning that enables senior executives to maximize their
company’s success in the regulatory, legislative and
media arenas.

Mr. Mould is an accomplished public
relations specialist with global corporate communications
experience and an international journalism background. An
expert writer with strong media contacts, he has expertise
in environmental issues and crisis management.
He has managed public affairs activities
in 20 countries and public relations departments for major
U.S. energy companies.
In addition, his experience includes
handling communications with news media, political
leaders, the investment community, labor unions, employees
and environmental and consumer activist groups, dealing
with such issues as environmental protests, power-plant
accidents, political and legal disputes, initial public
offerings, corporate re-branding, government
investigations, bankruptcy proceedings and hostile
takeovers.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Mould was
vice president of communications for PG&E National
Energy Group, a leading developer of power plants and
natural gas pipelines based in the Washington, D.C., area.
He was also director of public relations for Mirant
Corporation (formerly Southern Energy Inc.) based in
Atlanta; media relations manager for Southern Company and
for its Georgia Power subsidiary; and, southern regional
editor for United Press International (UPI).
Mr. Mould reported for UPI from the
Middle East as a Jerusalem-based correspondent and served
as ‘space’ correspondent in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
He also was a national and foreign news editor. He has
covered U.S. presidential politics, Congress, the Supreme
Court, State Department and state legislatures including
Georgia, South Carolina and Mississippi. Additionally, he
taught journalism at the University of South Carolina and
worked for several newspapers, including The Commercial
Appeal in Memphis, Tennessee.
Mr. Mould holds an MBA degree from Emory
University and a B.S. degree in journalism from the
University of Tennessee, where he sponsors a journalism
scholarship and serves on the communications advisory
board.
He is public affairs chairman of the
Electric Power Supply Association, public relations
adviser for the Committee of Chief Risk Officers of the
wholesale energy trading industry and is a member of the
National Press Club, Public Relations Society of America,
International Association of Business Communicators and
the Society of Environmental Journalists. He is a board
member of the Empty Stocking Fund, a Boy Scout leader and
member of the National Eagle Scout Association. A resident
of Atlanta for several years, he now lives with his wife
Lisa and two children in Washington, D.C.
